Director of Communications



Position Structure and Details

Reports to: Senior Director of Worship & Production
Hours/Week: 40 hours, Sun-Thurs
Location: Eden Prairie Location 
FLSA Classification: Exempt


The scope of this responsibility includes oversight of the church’s website, signage, printed materials, direct mail, email, social media, web postings, apps, podcasts, and other platforms as they are acquired.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Have considerable experience leading a communications team at a Church similar to Grace or larger with quantifiable success and accomplishments
  • Have a heart for the church and a heart for serving the people and ministries of the church
  • Demonstrate a consultative approach to working with ministry partners
  • Demonstrate a capacity for continuous improvement and innovation in church communication
  • Effectively manage a team of full time and part-time staff, freelance partnerships, and volunteer content creators and content managers in a manner that supports our missions and aligns with our values and operating practices
  • Serve as the church’s brand manager, responsible for safeguarding the church’s brand and overall brand perception in all marketing and communication efforts
  • Develop and execute the church’s marketing and communications plan to stimulate church growth while maximizing the impact of the gospel locally and globally
  • Maintain effective systems of quality control for all marketing and communication material the church produces
  • Delegate, schedule, and communicate progress updates for all marketing and communication efforts with impacted stakeholders
  • Serve as part of the church’s leadership team, helping inform decisions with an understanding of marketing and communications needs
  • As a lifelong learner, this person will effectively engage in ongoing education, networking, and research to remain relevant and informed with church communication trends and best practices
  • Work as part of the worship and production arts team to help execute the church’s weekly LiveStream and other special events
  • Effectively manage the expense and staffing budgets for the department
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Professional and Spiritual Expectations

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Communications
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Marketing and Communications
  • Strong marketing and design project management experience
  • Phenomenal written and verbal communication skills required
  • Proven ability to be a player as well as a thoughtful, effective coach
  • Experience in graphics, web design, print media, content marketing, video production, copywriting, social media marketing
  • Exhibit a lifestyle appropriate to a person in public Christian ministry by conducting life with the utmost integrity in all situations
  • Active church membership-supported with consistent attendance and participation in the life of the church
  • Exhibit a meaningful and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as evidenced by the manifestation of the fruit of the Holy Spirit and active participation in fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 18-20)
