Reports to: Family Ministries Associate
Location: Eden Prairie Campus
Hours/week: 10 hours, Sep 2021 - May 2022
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

The Family Ministries Intern will develop leadership, administrative, and discipleship skills that will grow their ability to minister to families and individuals intentionally and effectively. These skills will help create a foundation that can be built upon as schooling and life continues as well as will be useful in other areas – not just in ministry. The Intern intentionally build relationships with staff, volunteers and those we serve, take part in the process of planning and executing weekly classes, events and outreaches, and learn the daily operations of working in a local church context.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support to Family Ministries Associate in their weekly and monthly tasks
    • Plan/execute weekly classes provided by Family Ministries
    • Print/organize support materials
    • Provide social media support
    • Learn the process of editing and publishing weekly podcast
    • Plan/execute trainings and meetings for Family Ministries Volunteers
    • Support Family Ministries Pastor as needed
  • Work with staff members on select projects
    • Child Dedications (Fall 2021 and Winter/Spring 2022)
    • Father-Son Retreat (Fall 2021)
    • Couples’ Night (Date TBD)
    • Love and Respect Conference (Jan 2022)
  • Gain an understanding/learn proficiency of the church database & communication systems
    • Update website with events/meetings
    • Email volunteer groups
  • Attend meetings (as able – schedule can be negotiated)
    • Monthly Staff Chapel
    • Family Ministries Planning Meetings
    • Leader/Volunteer/Prep Meetings
  • To learn to professionally communicate via phone/email with staff and volunteers
  • To work allotted 10 hours per week and to give advanced notice of absence
  • Be open to help in other areas as needed

Professional and Spiritual Expectations

  • Exhibit a meaningful and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as evidenced by the manifestation of the fruits of the Holy Spirit
  • Have a commitment to personal and active participation in the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20)
  • Demonstrate a spiritual capacity and heart willingness to view this ministry as being a ministry unto the Lord, by serving the body of Grace Church
  • Timely and disciplined as these traits are found in leadership. Interns will learn the importance of timeliness and self-discipline
  • Live a life of spiritual discipline as well as a lifestyle above reproach. Spiritual character and spiritual discipline are crucial for the leadership in our ministry
  • A solid foundation for Christian living built on these building blocks: Bible Study, Prayer, Worship, Evangelism, Discipleship, and Fellowship
  • Strive for cooperation and team building among the Care and Family Ministries staff and volunteers, dealing with conflict in a biblical way, and always seeking peace.  It’s also important that respect is given to team members
