Position Structure and Details

Reports to: Public Safety Manager
Department: Facilities
Hours/Week: 4.5 hours
Shift: 5:00pm-9:30pm, Wednesdays
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Public Safety Officer Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring and maintain the safety and security of the property of Grace Church, including the following duties:

  • Provides public safety presence and protection of Grace Church property, assets, guests and staff in the building on Wednesday evenings from 5:00pm-9:30pm
  • Monitors, enforces and correctly reports violations of church rules and applicable state laws
  • Assesses, responds, contains and resolves situations that arise and takes appropriate action steps based upon policies and training
  • Writes legible, timely, concise, and accurate statements or reports for incidents
  • Processes and completes departmental paperwork and maintains a high degree of confidentiality
  • Operates church vehicles in accordance with church and department policies
  • Monitors and prevents unauthorized entry into restricted areas
  • Manages the process of contacting 911 for emergency assistance and assists responding police personnel upon arrival
  • Provides positive public relations and guest service according to Grace Church Public Safety standards when serving our guests or working with fellow staff members
  • Testifies in court or hearings as required
  • Monitors First Aid wall boxes mounted throughout the building re-stocking when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Professional and Spiritual Expectations

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Business Marketing, Communications, or another related field preferred
  • 2+ successful years of copywriting and editing experience
  • Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Developed organizational and effective time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, written and verbal
  • Experience publishing content on website or app platforms preferred
  • Experience managing successful social media campaigns, and a solid understanding of social marketing
  • Gifted in discernment and creative communication
  • Displays an attitude of commitment to prayer and specific prayers among volunteers concerning their mission-centric service
  • Exhibits a meaningful and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as evidenced by the manifestation of the fruit of the Holy Spirit
  • Has a commitment to personal and active participation in the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 18-20)
  • Exhibits a lifestyle appropriate to a person in public Christian ministry by conducting life with the utmost integrity in all situations
  • Consistent attendance and participation in Grace Church and involvement in the life of the church
  • Ability to relate to and effectively communicate with Grace staff, volunteers and church attenders
